There was a band of Bad weather (mostly low clouds) between my destination and me. It was forecasted to be clear at the photo site but I’d still need to get there. Figuring that I should at least attempt to get close so that I would be nearer to the site, I prepared the plane and was airborne shortly after. As I continued in the flight I found that the weather was exceptionally clear and I started thinking that maybe most of it had dissipated.

Reality hit me in the form of a broken layer of clouds at about 1500 AGL. Being that I had a lot of fuel, was 4000 feet above the layer and it was forecasted to be clear on the other side I continued the flight hoping to get to the other side. That is until clouds started appearing at my altitude. I proceeded to climb to 8,500 feet before I gave up trying to out climb the clouds and headed back to an airport I had just passed. I grabbed lunch and proceeded to wait out the weather for a few hours. Eventually the weather improved to just over MVFR conditions and my destination was now absolutely clear. I decided that I was going to go for it. The plan was to follow a route flying over airports on my way so that if the weather started dipping back into IFR range I’d have a place to go to. There are a surprising number of airports out in that area so I was in good shape.

I started flying and while the ceilings were fairly low I was able to stay about 2000 agl. Which in normal cases would be fine except for the two 2000 foot towers along my flight path. While I was pretty happy that I saw an even taller tower, I was not enthusiastic to have to look out for it in 5 miles of visibility. I wound up passing well north of it and managed to be completely clear the area.

Eventually the weather cleared up as quickly as it had gone bad and I was able to take the rest of the pictures without any problems. Encountered a few more almost 2000 foot towers but this time in visibility greater than 10 miles and not a cloud in the sky. After I got done, I grabbed some of the fields on the Wisconsin side and then headed home after the longest time I had spend away from home working.

Woke up and had a look at the weather only to find something rather annoying.
